Candidates come from all professions and can be any age. In almost all teaching areas (technical areas are the exception), candidates need to already have a bachelor’s degree. For those who wish to teach at the high school level, having a degree in the field one wishes to teach will often require less coursework than having a degree in another area.
Candidates in the 2009-10 academic pilot year were from many different professions: business, chemistry, enviornmental science, technology, and advertising. One is now teaching and another is in the process of taking courses for certification.
The mission of the Center for Career Changers to the Classroom is to help you decide if you want to teach, so do not hesitate to contact the Center with questions.
